Application
- ALPHA-METHYL STYRENE is a monomer with
inherent advantages of stability and handling over styrene. It copolymerises with other
monomers to give better end-products.
- ALPHA-METHYL STYRENE exhibits very
little tendency to polymerise with thermal or free radicals, but readily polymerises with
ionic catalyst to give polymers from liquid to solid having a wide range of properties
which are useful in PVC processing and surface coating industries.
- ALPHA-METHYL STYRENE copolymerises
with other monomers like Styrene, Divinyl Benzene, Acrylates, Acrylontrile, Butadiene etc.
It improves heat distortion properties of ABS plastics, Polystyrene, MMA, SAN etc.
- ALPHA-METHYL STYRENE copolymerises by
emulsion technique with Butadiene to give a good quality synthetic rubber.
- ALPHA-METHYL STYRENE finds application
in various other end-products like perfumery chemicals, antioxidants, drying oils,
lubricating oils, alkyd resins, modified phenolic resins etc.
- Low molecular weight polymers of
ALPHA-METHYL STYRENE are viscous liquids that they are used as plasticizers in paints,
waxes, adhesives and plastics.
