- REACH is the new European Union (EU) Regulation on Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of CHemicals. It came into force on June 1st 2008 with the primary objective of the protection of human health and the environment. REACH applies to all EU companies manufacturing, importing or using chemicals, each of whom will have to assume even greater responsibility in future for the safe handling and use of these substances.
- For the Chemical Industry, it is estimated that REACH will require the registration of around 30,000 existing substances.
- SI Group actively supports the aims of REACH and has a dedicated team focused on the implementation and registration process to ensure, where economically justifiable, the long term continued supply of products to our customers.
- SI Group has successfully completed the pre-registration phase for all supported substances, along with identified key monomers or component substances for our resins portfolio. Pre-registration ensures continued business until the applicable registration deadline of 2010, 2013 or 2018 and SI Group will offer close communication with our customers and suppliers in the lead up to registration.
